Chasefu Farm

Chasefu Farm, located near Chasefu University College in rural Zambia, was established by the C.C.A.P. Synod of Zambia to address the challenges faced by rural pastors and subsistence farmers in the region. With 60% of families living in extreme poverty and facing health problems and food insecurity, the need for sustainable agricultural solutions and income-generating activities is crucial.

The Chasefu Farm consists of two separate units: the Chasefu Model Farm and the Chasefu Farm AIGA (Agricultural Income Generating Activity). The Model Farm, founded in 2014, serves as a training center for theological students, subsistence farmers, government offices, and NGOs. The aim of the Model Farm is to provide food for the students at Chasefu University College, train subsistence farmers in low-cost agricultural techniques to increase their income, and offer courses on sustainable agriculture using appropriate technology for smallholders. The long-term vision for the Model Farm includes establishing demonstration plots to showcase practices such as agroforestry, conservation agriculture, and drought-resistant crops.

Empower local farmers through practical training in low-cost, income-enhancing agricultural techniques.

AGRICULTURAL INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITY (AIGA)

Founded in 2016, the Chasefu Farm AIGA supports the sustainability and growth of Chasefu University College and the farm itself through modern agricultural practices, post-harvest processing, and marketing. Current activities include maize and soybean cultivation, alongside a partnership with Cross Border Network Africa (CBNA) for red onion production, where farmers receive seeds and training while CBNA purchases the harvest. Future plans involve diversifying into cotton and livestock farming. Actively seeking partnerships, Chasefu Farm aligns with the CCAP Synod of Zambia’s vision to strengthen rural livelihoods, empower pastors and subsistence farmers, and promote food security through sustainable agriculture.
